Project Worker and Lead Youth Worker

What is my role?

I facilitate our French conversation class and lead the Macara youth group for teenage girls and young women aged 12-21. I also coordinate the peer education groups DIWC currently runs in partnership with the Scottish Refugee Council.

What do I love about my job?

I feel so privileged to be working in a place in which every conversation is an opportunity to learn. We work with amazing, fun, caring, talented, resilient women who have so much to offer to Dundee. I love trying my best to make them feel welcome here and helping them fulfil their potential and be active citizens in their new home.

I also love working with the youth and providing them with a space in which they can express themselves, make new friends, have fun, be challenged and grow into confident and considerate young women.

What languages do I speak?

French is my mother tongue. I also speak English fluently and learnt Levantine Arabic when I lived in Lebanon. I like to think I can still get by in German and Spanish but have not practised either for years!

Financial Accountant at Balhousie Care Group

After 9 years of working in practice both in Scotland and offshore in Guernsey, and a year off to start a family I moved into working in industry for one of the leading care providers in Scotland. The work is varied and very interesting.

I am delighted to be able to share the knowledge I have from my years as an accountant with the board and staff of DIWC. I also look forward to learning from the team.
