What is the project?

Stobswell Together is a community support drop-in co-ordinated by Dundee International Women's Centre to improve access to essential services and strengthen place-based support within the Stobswell area of Dundee.

Working as part of Dundee City Council's Local Fairness Initiative work , the project provides a welcoming, accessible space where residents can receive free information, advice, and practical support from a range of partner organisations
The Stobswell Together Drop-Ins are held every Friday from 10am to 3pm. These sessions provide free, person-centred support and connect residents with a range of specialist services.
The project's success is built on strong multi-agency collaboration. Through coordinated partnership working, organisations can deliver support directly within the community, improving referral pathways and providing residents with access to multiple services in a single location. Partners include employability services, housing providers, welfare agencies, health services, and community organisations.

“With the right atmosphere, everyone here is genuinely supportive and sympathetic."

"I actually got more information and support than I could ever have expected...The support from all the people I have met in all these services has been incredible."

"It helps to bridge the lack of face-to-face communication, mitigate any misunderstandings and it makes me feel well supported and feel much less stressful / panic."

"I find information and received support which isn’t available if the drop-in session does not exist."

“As a new settler in Dundee it was a great comfort to receive a series of advices and guidance along with goods and cash vouchers on essential things."

"I really appreciated being able to talk through the difficulties I am currently faced with and the reassurance that I have rights too.”

"It’s difficult to speak to someone over the phone from these places so the drop in sessions are very helpful and accessible."

How to get in touch

IMPORTANT UPDATE FROM DIWC

Dundee International Women’s Centre remains temporarily closed due to ongoing concerns regarding the safety of the roof within our building at Manhattan Works.

We would like to reassure everyone that DIWC is not the only organisation affected by this situation. Other valuable local charities, including ADHD Dundee & Angus Support Group and Showcase the Street, are also currently impacted.

At present we are awaiting a further update from our landlord regarding next steps and timescales.

Please be assured that many of our classes and services are still continuing from different locations across Dundee thanks to the incredible support and kindness of other local organisations who have stepped in to help us during this difficult time.

A huge thank you to:

  • Dundee Women’s HUB
  • WRASAC Dundee & Angus
  • Fleming Gardens Sheltered Housing Complex
  • Boomerang
  • One Parent Families Scotland
  • IYN Maryfield
  • Stobswell Forum
  • HELM

Without these organisations generously providing space for us, continuing services would not have been possible.

1:1 support remains available. If you require support, please contact:

support@diwc.co.uk

We truly hope to be back in our centre very soon and will continue to keep everyone updated as soon as we receive further information.

If any organisations or community groups have available office space or rooms suitable for classes or support sessions, please get in touch with us at: mail@diwc.co.uk

Thank you to everyone for your patience, support and kindness during this challenging time.
