‘Rise and shine’ creche

Children come along while their mums/guardians are using the centre’s facilities. They love to come to the creche  and have fun with their friends and the caring creche staff. Our Team of qualified staff provide a warm, friendly safe and stimulating environment where children are encouraged to learn and develop freely.

Our recent care inspectorate report gave us a score of 4 which is graded as Good in every category, particular strengths were around the welcome and care given to the children. The quality of the staff who work as part of the creche team and the feedback from the parents who use this valuable facility.

during the holidays we run a playscheme for children aged from 3-12 years. A detailed programme of activities is available 3 weeks prior to school holidays. Pre booking is required.

Our birthday parties are very popular with children of all ages. parties last for up to 2 hours and can be held at Dundee International Women’s Centre or a venue of your choice. We provide games and activities, prizes, party bags, food and drink, all you have to do is bring the cake! We can also arrange for a magician

Qualified Staff

Qualified Staff

We have many years of experience and have a dedicated qualified team of childcare practitioners, development workers, and family support workers. All our staff are fully qualified, SSSC registered and PVG checked. Our staff team regularly attend appropriate training courses to enhance their skills and continuous professional development.

Culture & awareness training

    When ?

    Tuesday 10am – 12pm
    Wednesday 1pm – 3pm
    Thursday 10am – 12pm

    What is it for?

    Women wanting to learn English as a second language, and gain an SQA qualification

    What is covered?

    Our ESOL classes are taught by tutors from Dundee and Angus College. This course is designed to improve skills in reading, writing, listening and speaking in English. Students who pass the exam are awarded an SQA certificate,  gain confidence and improve their chances of finding work.

    What can I gain?

    Students who pass the certificate are awarded an SQA certificate, gain confidence and improve their chances of finding work. We offer different levels of ESOL classes: all students are assessed individually to make sure we offer the most suitable course.Levels available are Access 2 and National 3

    When?

    Tuesday 10am – 12pm

    Who is it for?

    If you are keen to share your skills and experience, make friends and become part of a vibrant community, then the volunteering award is the course for you.

    What is covered?

    This is an SQA accredited course that allows you to gain a qualification while carrying out a volunteering role.The course involves: finding out about volunteer organisations, carrying out a  self assessment of your skills and abilities, undertaking a number of  hours volunteering at DIWC, keeping a log book of your activities, and carrying out a small project.

    What can I gain?

    Award in Volunteering Skills SCQF Level 3, 4 or 5 and Work experience as a volunteer at DIWC

    European Computing Driving License – ECDL

    When?

    Monday 10am – 12pm
    Wednesday 1pm – 3pm

    Who is it for?

    This course will suit any woman who wants to improve their computer skills and gain a recognised qualification. Some

    Computer Class Dundee 

    experience of computers is essential, and preferably Microsoft Word.

    What is covered?

    This is an SQA accredited course that is made up of 7 modules:IT Security, IT Users Fundamental, Word Processing, Spreadsheets, Database. PowerPoint Presentation and Outlook

    What can I gain?

    ECDL stands for European Computer Driving License, and is a popular computing qualification from the British Computing Society: equivalent to SQCF level 5

    A great way to meet new people, have fun together through a range of hobbies and activities

    Socialising and meeting new people while doing many different activities can make life more fulfilling. This can help older people feel good about themselves and their life in general. Spending time with others can prevent the feeling of loneliness and gives them the chance to share their experiences and thoughts
