Who is it for?
The NPA is for anyone looking to move into employment in a childcare environment. English at an intermediate level is required, in order to cope with the workload of the course.
This qualification takes 1 academic year to complete, so learners must be sure that they can commit to the full course before signing up.
How to Join
This class is currently full, so we have a waiting list to start the course in August 2025.
- Contact Reception with your name and phone number and you will be placed on the waiting list.
- We will contact you over the summer in 2025.
- You will need to complete an application form, after which you might be invited to interview.
- If you are not ready for this course, you will be directed to other classes which will help you prepare for the following year.
What is covered?
This is an entry level qualification that introduces learners to techniques that are important in playwork and early learning.
Students must complete 5 mandatory units, plus 1 optional unit, in order to gain the qualification. The course also requires students to undertake a placement, which consists of 6 x 2 hour sessions.
What can I gain?
An SQA qualification in childcare at SCQF Level 5.
